You are looking at a dramatic map of the battle field of Stone River. Dec. 31, 1862 Drawn by Lt. O. R. Dahl, Topographical Engineer, 2nd Brigade, 1st Div. It was taken in 1862.

"The history of the battle of Stone River" appears to the right of the map. Map shows the Union's forces and the Confederate forces "on the morning the 31st of Dec. 1862." Map has entrenchments, location of graves, roads, "Nashville & Chattanooga Rail Road," houses and names of residents, woods, and rivers. Includes portraits of Lt. O. R. Dahl and Maj. Gen. W. M. S. Rosecrans.
