Here for your browsing pleasure is Mitchell's sectional map of Kansas / compiled from the field notes in the Surveyor General's office by David T. Mitchell, U.S. surveyor and land agent, Lecompton, Kansas ; showing the U.S. survey up to 1859. It was taken in 1859.

Principle map covers eastern Kansas showing township and range lines. Inset of entire territory of Kansas, including parts of present day states of Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas, 9 x 23 cm. Copy 1 inset shows hand coloring of gold mining region in western section. Copy 2 not colored, with ink annotation in right upper margin: filed April 4th, 1859. Scale 1:570,240 "9 miles to one inch.".
