Here for your perusal is a one-of-a-kind chart of This plan of the city of Philadelphia and its environs (showing the improved parts) / is dedicated to the mayor, aldermen and citizens thereof by their most obedient servant, John Hills, surveyor and draughtsman, May 30th 1796 ; engraved by John Cooke of Hendon, Middlesex, near London. It was taken in 1797.

Relief shown by hachures. Also shows all buildings, names of wharves and landings along the Delaware riverbank, wooded areas, and tract lines beyond the city borders. Copy halved for folding, mounted on cloth backing, and edged with blue-and-white cloth border. Includes notes, index to points of interest, statement of presentation dated "Philad'a Sep'r 5th 1796", and imprint of city seal containing coat-of-arms. Scale [1:7,200]. 600 ft. to an in.
