Here for your perusal is an impressive map of the post of Fort Brown, Brownsville, Texas / surveyed and drawn under the direction of B'vt Maj. Genl. E.R.S. Canby, commanding fifth military district by L.M. Haupt, 2nd Lieut. U.S. Corp. of Engineers, March 1869. It was made in 1877.
Fort Brown (Brownsville, Tex.).
"Tracing made February 1877. Present shore-lines in front of Brownsville and Fort Brown, location of proposed break-water, depths of water &c., are shown in red. Buildings as they are now located. (Feb. 1877)" Oriented with north toward the left. Pen-and-ink on tracing linen. Includes inset and cross section. Copy imperfect: Water stains. Scale 1:3,000.
